The Valley is a new podcast that is produced by the SVSU Men’s Basketball program each week. Originally to be known as “Cardinal Chalk-Talk” The Valley was rebranded with the audience in mind. In this first short edition of the podcast SVSU Men’s Basketball Radio Voice Eric Vandefifer takes you through the reason for the rebrand and a recap of the latest SVSU Men’s Basketball season.
NAME: Cardinal Chalk Talk
BACKGROUND: The Saginaw Valley State University Men’s Basketball coach, Randy Baruth, wanted to start a podcast to help promote the program and give people a look at what it’s like to work in college athletics and to be a college athlete. This podcast will do exactly that and then some in a weekly edition.
Our intended audience is any SVSU fan as well as potential recruits who are thinking about SVSU as an option and giving them a taste of what it would be like before they even get here.
Our engagement strategy is going to be through the SVSU Men’s basketball Twitter page as well as mine, and coach Baruth’s personal accounts. With close to 5,000 combined followers across the pages, our hope is to engage with as many people as possible.
